BRAC Bank’s ‘Amrai TARA’ boosts women entrepreneurs in two districts
BRAC Bank, in collaboration with Bangladesh Open-Source Network (BdOSN), has organised two three-day training programmes under its flagship women entrepreneur initiative, 'Amrai TARA', in Jamalpur and Mymensingh.
The programmes took place from 20–22 October in Jamalpur and 21–23 October in Mymensingh, bringing together 60 aspiring women entrepreneurs—30 from each district—for intensive capacity-building sessions designed to strengthen their entrepreneurial journeys.
The training focused on business management, digital skills, financial literacy and market access, equipping participants to expand their enterprises and inspire other women in their communities.
Attendees included Munir Hasan, President of BdOSN; Md Ikbal Hossain, Territory Manager (Jamalpur), Small Business, SME Division, BRAC Bank; and Md Aftab Uddin, Territory Manager (Mymensingh), Small Business, SME Division, BRAC Bank.
Syed Abdul Momen, Additional Managing Director and Head of SME Banking at BRAC Bank, said: "At BRAC Bank, we believe empowering women entrepreneurs is key to building an inclusive and sustainable economy. 'Amrai TARA' builds confidence, capability and connection for women-led enterprises to thrive."
'Amrai TARA', supported by the Gates Foundation, is BRAC Bank's flagship nationwide platform for women entrepreneurs, offering training, mentorship and access to markets and finance.
By extending the initiative to Jamalpur and Mymensingh, BRAC Bank aims to reach entrepreneurs beyond major cities and to expand enterprise development across the country.
To date, BRAC Bank has trained more than 3,000 women entrepreneurs in 20 districts under the 'Amrai TARA' programme, with plans to expand to every district in Bangladesh.
