EBL celebrates World Environment Day with week-long green initiatives
Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) is observing World Environment Day 2025 with a week-long series of activities themed "True Transformation Starts from Within," reaffirming its commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable banking practices.
The celebration was inaugurated on Monday at EBL's Gulshan Head Office by Managing Director and CEO Ali Reza Iftekhar. "Real change begins at home—both as individuals and as an institution," he said, highlighting the importance of cultivating an internal culture of sustainability.
A key feature of the week is the In-House Culture Development Session, where EBL honoured its Green Champions—individuals and teams across the organisation who have led the way in implementing eco-friendly practices. These champions exemplify the spirit of responsible banking by fostering sustainable habits in the workplace.

As part of its Green Customer Appreciation initiative, EBL's relationship managers and business heads are engaging with valued customers who have demonstrated a commitment to sustainability. These customers are being presented with eco-conscious gifts, including live plants, handcrafted clay items, and biodegradable essentials—gestures that symbolise a collective aspiration towards a greener, plastic-free future.
EBL has also launched a social media campaign as part of the initiative, sharing its ongoing sustainability journey and encouraging the wider community to take part in environmental action. The campaign underscores EBL's belief that transformation must begin from within—in mindset, policy, and practice.
