Dutch-Bangla Bank hosts concluding workshop on CSR-funded agricultural research projects

The concluding workshop of agricultural research projects funded under the 'Special CSR Grant' of Dutch-Bangla Bank was held at a local hotel in the capital. These projects were conducted under the guidance of Bangladesh Bank, with a focus on sustainable innovation across various areas of agriculture.
Mr Abul Kashem Md Shirin, Managing Director and CEO of Dutch-Bangla Bank, presided over the inaugural session of the workshop. In his opening remarks, Mr Shirin expressed satisfaction over the successful implementation of research initiatives in the areas of crops, fisheries, poultry, irrigation, and food processing and storage.
He emphasised that although the scheduled activities of the projects had concluded, the partner institutions and researchers were expected to continue their work beyond the formal end of the programme. He extended his heartfelt thanks to the members of the expert committee, researchers, implementing partners, and all individuals associated with Dutch-Bangla Bank for their unwavering support.
Professor Dr Md Manjurul Alam, Chairman of the Special CSR Committee of Dutch-Bangla Bank, presented a paper summarising the key achievements of the research initiatives. Seven technology-driven innovation projects were carried out between 2023 and 2025 at the farmer level across different regions of the country, with Dutch-Bangla Bank providing full financial support.
A significant number of participants attended the event, including leading scientists, academics, policymakers, and entrepreneurs from various agricultural research organisations.
The technical session, chaired by Professor Dr Md Manjurul Alam and Professor Imdadul Haque Chowdhury, featured detailed presentations of the results from all seven research projects. The session concluded with expert opinions and suggestions from the attending scientists and professionals, further enriching the discussion on sustainable agricultural innovation in Bangladesh.
