Dhaka University, BdREN to expand research support
Dhaka University has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN).
This aims to bolster collaboration in research, scientific education, and the use of digital academic resources.
The vice-chancellor's office formalised the agreement on Sunday morning (10 May), according to a press release.
The initial tenure of the MoU is five years, laying the foundation for long-term collaboration.
During the ceremony, Professor Dr M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Treasurer of Dhaka University, signed on behalf of his institution. Mohammad Tawrit, Chief Executive Officer of BdREN, signed for BdREN.
Also present at the signing were Professor Dr Kazi Mostak Gausul Hoq, Librarian of Dhaka University, along with other relevant officials, underscoring the importance of the occasion.
The MoU provides Dhaka University's teachers, researchers, and students access to e-journals, e-books, research databases, software, and other digital resources of international standard.
Moving forward, both institutions will develop joint initiatives to enhance the quality of research and higher education, with specific future projects and milestones outlined as part of their ongoing collaboration.
BdREN supports universities, research institutions, medical colleges, and libraries nationwide with high-speed networks and digital resources.
Specifically, the agreement enables Dhaka University to access e-resources from internationally renowned publishers at reduced cost.
Dhaka University may subscribe to various e-resources and digital services as needed through separate agreements under the MoU.
Looking ahead, the two organisations aim to jointly expand research activities, promote scientific knowledge exchange, and advance technology-driven higher education by setting long-term goals and establishing measurable targets for academic growth.
