CUET Journalists' Association announces new executive committee

Asahab Labib, campus correspondent for Kaler Kantho, is the new president of the CUET Journalists' Association, the only student journalists' group at CUET. Saika Shuhada, CUET correspondent for The Business Standard, serves as the general secretary.
At the association's Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday, July 28, at the Student-Teacher Center of CUET, the new executive committee for the 2024-25 session was officially announced.
The newly elected members of the executive committee include:
- Vice Presidents: Ipsita Jahan Suma (correspondent for Nagorik Vabna and Chattolar Khobor) and Mohammad Yasir Afnan Rafin (CUET correspondent for Dainik Azadi)
- Organizing Secretaries: Fahim Reza (Samakal) and Faiyaz Mohammad Kaushik (Rupali Bangladesh)
- Office Secretary: Nafisa Nawar (Chattogram Protidin)
- Finance Secretary: Asadullah Al Galib (Amader Shomoy)
- Publicity and Publication Secretary: Akifa Manjur (Shomoyer Alo)
- Executive Members: Golam Mostafa Tanim (Education Times), Nazifa Tasnim Jifa (Desh Deshantor), and Zareen Tasmeen Saba (Bonik Barta)
CUET Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan attended the event as the chief guest. Also present were Professor Dr. Mahbubul Alam, Director of the Directorate of Student Welfare; Professor Dr. Jamal Uddin Ahmed, Director of the Institute of Energy Technology (IET); Professor Dr. Kazi Delwar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering; Professor Dr. Moktar Hossain, Deputy Director of Student Welfare; Professor Dr. Abu Sadat Mohammad Sayem, Head of the Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering; and Muhammad Fazlur Rahman, CUET's Deputy Director of Public Relations.
During the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Dr. Matin Bhuiyan honored the outgoing committee with crests and certificates. He then announced the names of the new executive body. Additionally, awards were presented to:
- Feature Writer of the Year: Faiyaz Mohammad Kaushik
- Best Photograph: Asadullah Al Galib
- Promising Feature Writer: Zareen Tasmeen Saba
This event marks a significant step forward in CUET's student journalism, empowering the committee to foster media excellence and advocate for student voices, thereby enhancing the quality and impact of student-run media within the university.
