Crowne Plaza Dhaka airport opens at centrepoint
Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport has officially opened at Centrepoint, marking a significant milestone in Bangladesh's hospitality sector.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by advisers and directors of United Group, together with representatives of IHG Hotels & Resorts. The event concluded with a ceremonial cake cutting.
Among those present were Hasan Mahmood Raja, Chief Adviser, United Group, and founding advisers Akhter Mahmud and K M Ahsan Shamim. Moinduddin Hasan Rashid, Chairman and Managing Director, United Group, also attended, together with directors Nizamuddin Hasan Rashid, Khondaker Zayed Ahsan, Sharfuddin Akhter Rashid, and Kutubuddin Akhter Rashid.
Ashwani Nayar, Area General Manager, IHG South West Asia, and Cluster General Manager, Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport and InterContinental Dhaka, said, "We are not just a hotel; we represent a bridge between two pioneers—United Group and IHG. Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport features 284 rooms and suites, designed with dedicated zones for work, rest, and relaxation. The hotel also offers event facilities, including the 9,000-square-foot Celestial Ballroom, with capacity for up to 1,100 guests, and meeting spaces such as Aurora I, Aurora II, and Mist, all equipped with world-class amenities.
The opening reflects a collaborative effort to introduce global hospitality standards, while contributing to the country's growing tourism and business ecosystem.
