Community Bank marks seventh anniversary, launches two loan products
Community Bank Bangladesh PLC celebrated its seventh anniversary by launching two loan products, reaffirming its commitment to modern, customer-focused, responsible, and sustainable banking.
The celebration took place on Saturday evening at InterContinental Dhaka under the theme "Transform, Growth & Sustainability", reflecting on the bank's achievements and experiences over the past seven years and outlining its future aspirations, according to the press release.
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed attended the event as the chief guest. Senior government officials, Bangladesh Bank officials, representatives of regulatory bodies, senior Bangladesh Police officials, members of the bank's board of directors, shareholders, corporate clients, stakeholders and senior bank officials were also present.
In his welcome address, Community Bank Bangladesh Managing Director Mohammed Emtiaz Uddin said, "Transform, Growth & Sustainability is not merely the theme of our seventh anniversary; it is a strategic commitment that will guide Community Bank in the years ahead. We aspire to build a bank where transformation will drive progress, growth will create opportunities for people and businesses, and sustainability will serve as the foundation of long-term trust."
He said transformation at Community Bank would extend beyond technological advancement to encompass positive changes in mindset, work processes, service culture and every aspect of its relationship with customers.
Growth, he added, would mean more than expanding the scale of business. It would also involve strengthening the bank's capabilities, creating new opportunities for customers and making a greater contribution to the national economy.
Sustainability would remain an important consideration in the bank's decisions, he said, supporting responsible business practices, long-term growth and the development of a strong and sustainable institution for future generations.
Speaking as the chief guest, Salahuddin Ahmed congratulated Community Bank on its seventh anniversary. He said improving efficiency and service quality in the banking sector must go hand in hand with bringing more people under financial services and creating new opportunities.
Emphasising stronger customer service, he said banking's fundamental objective should be to earn people's trust and uphold it responsibly.
The home minister also called for Community Bank's corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives to be more meaningful and responsive to people's needs. He said these activities should go beyond formalities and publicity, with every initiative and investment contributing to serving people, improving their quality of life and supporting long-term social well-being.
He emphasised the need for CSR initiatives in education, healthcare, the environment, humanitarian assistance and social development, based on people's actual needs. A bank could strengthen its social responsibility by supporting people and contributing effectively to the country's development, he added.
Salahuddin expressed hope that Community Bank would continue to become more trusted, efficient and responsible. He wished the bank continued progress and the country's economy further prosperity.
Inspector General of Police and Community Bank Bangladesh Chairman Md Ali Hossain Fakir, BPM, chaired the event. He said shareholders' trust, guidance from Bangladesh Bank and relevant regulatory authorities, and cooperation from customers and stakeholders had played an important role in the bank's journey.
Alongside technology and strategic planning, he said, an institution's success depended equally on the hard work, integrity, dedication and collective efforts of those carrying out their daily responsibilities. Every achievement of Community Bank reflected the sustained efforts of its officers and employees, he added.
Referring to changes in the banking sector, he said Community Bank must become more efficient, innovative and humane while keeping pace with technological advances, digital services, changing customer expectations and emerging economic realities.
"We do not want to make a bank bigger merely; we want to build an institution that connects people's trust, business opportunities and the progress of the country in one common thread," he said.
Community Bank Director and Additional Inspector General of Police (Finance) Md Akram Hossain, BPM (Sheba), and the bank's Independent Director Dr Md Morshed Hasan Khan also addressed the event.
The speakers emphasised good governance, responsible banking, financial discipline, customer service and the banking sector's role in supporting the country's economic progress.
