Commercial Bank of Ceylon adopts carbon-reduced shipping with DHL
Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC Bangladesh Operations has partnered with DHL Express Bangladesh to join the GoGreen Plus carbon-reduced shipping programme, marking a key milestone in the bank's commitment to sustainability and environmentally responsible operations.
The agreement was signed by Najith Meewanage, Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC Bangladesh Operations, and Md Miarul Haque, Managing Director of DHL Express Bangladesh.
Through this partnership, Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC Bangladesh Operations will offset its Scope 3 emissions—those generated indirectly through logistics and transportation—by integrating carbon-reduced shipping solutions into its document delivery process. The initiative strengthens the bank's commitment to embedding sustainability within its operations, and advancing a more climate-conscious banking ecosystem.
The collaboration reflects the bank's proactive approach to environmental stewardship, adopting measurable, low-emission practices in its logistics chain while aligning with its broader ESG goals. It underscores the bank's leadership in sustainable banking, and its long-term vision for a greener, more responsible future.
Also present at the signing ceremony were Dewan Minhaz Rahman, Assistant General Manager – International; and Maruf Iftekhar Khan, Head of Marketing & Brand Building, from Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC Bangladesh Operations; and ASM Shakil, Head of Commercial; Md Hayatuzzaman Khan, Head of GMNC, Commercial; and Arafat Hossain, National Customer Manager, Commercial, from DHL Express Bangladesh.
