City Bank, Footsteps Bangladesh bring clean water to Imambari school

For years, students at Imambari Government Primary School in Jamalpur lacked access to safe drinking water.
Without clean water, children and teachers faced health risks like typhoid, cholera, diarrhoea, and skin infections.
Alif, a nine-year-old in Class 3, was diagnosed with typhoid after drinking contaminated school water. His illness led to missed classes, academic setbacks, and lasting health issues—a situation many students and community members faced.
City Bank partnered with Footsteps Bangladesh to install a School Filtration System at Imambari Government Primary School. Now, 2,600 students, teachers, and community members have daily access to safe drinking water.
Alongside the installation, Footsteps Bangladesh has been conducting hygiene awareness sessions for students and parents. These sessions teach safe water practices and empower families to adopt healthier habits.
Since 2019, City Bank and Footsteps Bangladesh have expanded safe water access in schools across the nation. Together, they have installed filtration systems in 18 government schools, serving over 64,000 people.
The Imambari GPS initiative marks another step in tackling development challenges by uniting resources, innovation, and community engagement. For students, it means fewer absences, better health, and a brighter future built on education, not preventable disease.
