Grameenphone contributes Tk24.6cr to Labour Welfare Fund
Grameenphone has contributed Tk24.60 crore to the Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation Fund, reaffirming its commitment to employee welfare and responsible corporate practices.
The contribution represents 10% of the company's 2025 Workers' Profit Participation Fund. A delegation led by Grameenphone Chief Human Resources Officer Sayeda Tahya Hossain recently handed over the cheque to Minister for Labour and Employment and Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Ariful Haque Choudhury, MP, at the ministry in Dhaka, according to a press release.
Ministry of Labour and Employment Secretary Md Abdur Rahman Tarafdar also attended the ceremony.
Grameenphone representatives present included Head of Industrial Relations and Culture Mohammad Aulad Hossain, Head of Compensation, Benefits and Analytics Mohammad Khaled Mridha, Senior Industrial Relations Expert Muhammad Tawhidul Islam, and Industrial Relations Expert Md Harun Ur Rashid.

Under the Bangladesh Labour Act, eligible domestic and foreign companies contribute one-tenth of the 5% of their profits allocated to the Workers' Profit Participation Fund to the Labour Welfare Foundation Fund.
Grameenphone said its accumulated contributions to the fund through the 2024 financial year totalled Tk3,298,917,947, equivalent to about Tk329.89 crore. It is contributing a further Tk246,087,565 for the 2025 financial year.
As part of its commitment to a future-ready Bangladesh, Grameenphone continues to strengthen digital and artificial intelligence capabilities among its employees while extending digital skills and opportunities to communities across the country.
