Chattogram NGO celebrates decade of menstrual health programme

Youth's Voice, a Chattogram-based non-profit organisation, has celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Menstrual Health Management (MHM) programme with a series of events, including an art exhibition, a futsal tournament, and a videography competition.
The celebration began in June with a futsal tournament organised in partnership with Ispahani Group. From 15 to 17 August, Youth's Voice hosted a three-day art exhibition titled "Celebrating the Many Faces of Femininity" at the Chattogram Zila Shilpakala Academy. Alongside the exhibition, the final round and closing ceremony of the "Reel for Red" videography competition were held in collaboration with Safepad Bangladesh, with Pathao serving as the logistics partner.
Centred on the theme "Tale of Womanhood", the exhibition brought together artists from across Bangladesh, whose works depicted the struggles, challenges, and triumphs of women at different stages of life. A painting competition for students also drew enthusiastic participation, with winners honoured in an award ceremony.
Distinguished guests at the inaugural ceremony included Tahmid K Chowdhury, Founder of Youth's Voice and Chairperson of Youth Worldwide Foundation; Monowar Hossain Ronee, AGM and Head of Department, Foy's Lake, Concord; Syed Muhammad Ayaj Mabud, District Cultural Officer, Chattogram Shilpakala Academy; Sanjit Roy, Senior Fine Arts Instructor, Chattogram Shilpakala Academy; and Nasrin Sarwar Meghla, HR Director, Prantik Group and Founder of Meghroddur.
The "Reel for Red" competition featured creative short films that promoted menstrual health awareness and sustainability. The judging panel consisted of Masudur Rahman of AUW, Abdullah Al Kaisar of Next Wave Solutions, Kazi Rifah Noor of USTC, and Mainul Hasan of ShareTrip. Final winners were announced at the closing ceremony.
Dr Arefin Taher, President of Youth's Voice, said: "Our aim is not only to showcase youth creativity but also to normalise discussions on crucial topics like menstrual health management. Programmes like these are vital in breaking societal taboos and inspiring future generations through awareness."
Since its inception in 2011, Youth's Voice has worked to empower young people through leadership, creativity, and social welfare projects. This anniversary celebration reflects its ongoing commitment to combining art with advocacy and social awareness.
