BRAC University welcomes new students at Summer 2025 orientation

BRAC University welcomed its new students for the Summer 2025 semester with an orientation programme at its Merul Badda campus in Dhaka on Wednesday, 25 June 2025, guiding them into the vibrant life of the university.
Michael Miller, Ambassador of the European Union to Bangladesh and chief guest, reminded the young generation that they alone hold the power to confront the pressing challenges of our era—climate change, digital disruption, reckless populism, and inequality.
"Be curious, ask questions, challenge algorithms, respect those who are different, and always collaborate across divides. Use your education to make a difference," he urged, kindling the spark of responsibility and courage.
He also expressed hope that more BRAC graduates would seize opportunities offered by Erasmus, the European Union's renowned programme fostering international student exchange and global learning.
Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar, Vice-Chancellor of BRAC University, reflected on the institution's mission: to nurture not just learned minds but changemakers, steadfast in their commitment to uplifting society.
The ceremony honoured three remarkable female students with the "Special Recognition Award – Summer 2025" for their leadership and excellence: Muzhgan Pazhwak from the BRAC Business School, Bushra Abdul Kaliq from the School of Law, and Aonkita Dey from the Department of Economics and Social Sciences.
A moving video tribute to BRAC University's visionary founder, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, celebrated his relentless dedication to academic excellence and social transformation. The spirit of the university came alive as the cultural club Monon presented a graceful dance.
The European Union shared their inspiring "I've Got the Power" campaign, spotlighting the life-changing influence of clean energy and stories of hope kindled by renewable power.
Registrar Dr David Dowland, Professor Samia Huq, Dean of the School of General Education, Proctor Dr Rubana Ahmed, and Dr Sadia Hamid Kazi, Chairperson of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, also graced the occasion with their words of wisdom.
The event was thoughtfully moderated by Tahsina Rahman, Joint Director of Student Life, weaving together a tapestry of inspiration and encouragement for the journey ahead.
