BRAC career expos generate 3,232 job offers across four cities
BRAC's Career Expo 2026 delivered 3,232 direct job offers to young jobseekers in Sylhet, Chattogram, Khulna and Rangpur.
Held between May and June, the expos connected thousands of jobseekers with 79 employers across various industries, according to a press release.
A total of 50,867 jobseekers registered for the events, of whom 18,399 attended in person. Participating employers received 94,962 CVs, shortlisted 11,095 candidates and conducted 6,280 on-the-spot interviews.
The participating employers included Walton, PRAN, ACI, Bank Asia, BRAC Bank, United Finance PLC, Akij Group, Minister Hi-Tech Park Limited and Singer.
The expos allowed employers to assess candidates and identify suitable applicants directly. Jobseekers could approach multiple organisations at one venue instead of submitting CVs separately.
BRAC organised the events to expand employment opportunities for young people and strengthen direct links between employers and jobseekers.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of young Bangladeshis complete higher education and enter the labour market. Many, however, struggle to find suitable employment due to a lack of market-relevant skills, limited access to labour market information, and inadequate career guidance during the transition from education to work.
Employers across various sectors also face difficulties identifying and recruiting skilled candidates who meet their workforce requirements.
According to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, people aged between 15 and 29 account for 83.2 per cent of the country's unemployed population, while the unemployment rate among university graduates stands at 13.11 per cent.
Nearly 46 per cent of National University graduates also remain outside formal employment.
Against this backdrop, BRAC launched Career Hub under its Skills Development Programme in 2020 to provide skills assessment, career counselling, training and employment linkage services through a single platform.
The process begins with participant registration and an assessment based on labour market demand. Through Career Chats and an initial assessment, participants' existing skills, job readiness and career aspirations are evaluated.
Those considered job-ready are connected directly with employment opportunities, while participants requiring further development receive tailored learning plans and specialised training from career counsellors. After completing the training, they are reassessed and connected with suitable employment opportunities.
Since its launch, more than 37,540 young people have registered with Career Hub, while over 11,873 participants have received one-to-one career counselling.
A further 5,617 participants have completed job-readiness training, around 35 per cent of whom are women.
Employers have submitted more than 3,400 assessment requests through the platform, resulting in employment for over 2,200 participants. Around 60 per cent of those employed secured jobs within six months.
Career Hub currently operates in Cox's Bazar, Rangpur, Sylhet, Chattogram and Khulna. BRAC plans to expand the service to several public universities across the country.
Through Career Hub, BRAC aims to equip young people with market-relevant skills, career guidance and pathways to employment. Career Expo complements the platform by bringing employers and jobseekers together for recruitment, professional networking and career development.
By bringing employers and jobseekers together, the initiatives seek to make young people's transition into the workforce more structured, accessible and effective.
