BRAC bank wins asia’s sustainable sme financier award 2025
BRAC Bank won the 2025 Asia Sustainable SME Financier award at the Global SME Finance Awards.
Syed Abdul Momen, Additional Managing Director and Head of SME Banking, received the award on 15 September in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The WASH financing programme, developed with Water.org, improved sanitation for over 350,000 people and provided safe water to nearly 800,000 nationwide in its first year.
"This honour reinforces our commitment to building a sustainable future through innovative SME financing," said Tareq Refat Ullah Khan, Managing Director and CEO of BRAC Bank. "We will continue to invest in solutions that uplift communities and drive inclusive growth."
Organized by the SME Finance Forum under the World Bank Group as an official event of the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI), the Global SME Finance Awards celebrate institutions that deliver impactful and scalable solutions for SMEs.
Fifty institutions were shortlisted from hundreds of global applicants, including three from Bangladesh. BRAC Bank's win underscores its leadership in sustainable finance in Asia.
