Brac Bank promotes formal remittance channels
Brac Bank has organised a series of 'Uthan Boithak' sessions across four districts to advance financial literacy and promote the use of formal banking channels for inward remittances.
Sessions took place at Damurhuda Agent Banking Outlet in Chuadanga, Charvita and Rupdia outlets in Jashore, Rajapur outlet in Magura, and Daserhat outlet in Lakshmipur.
Expatriate families and local residents engaged in interactive discussions.
The programme underscored the safety, transparency, and reliability of formal remittance channels, while emphasising the risks of informal methods such as hundi.
Bank officials stressed that remitting funds via legal banking channels secures customers' money and bolsters the country's foreign exchange reserves and economic stability.
Participants were introduced to Brac Bank's 'Probashi Poribar' accounts, tailored for expatriates and their families.
These banking solutions provide convenient access to savings, transactions, and other financial services, helping families build long-term financial security.
Officials urged beneficiaries to allocate remittance income to education, small businesses, savings, and asset creation to support sustainable economic progress at both the household and national levels.
The initiative drew a strong response, with nearly 70% of participants identified as new remittance beneficiaries who had not previously maintained accounts with Brac Bank.
Agent banking officials affirmed their commitment to onboarding these families into formal banking services promptly.
As a token of appreciation, Brac Bank presented gifts to the top remittance recipients at each location, recognising their trust in formal banking channels.
Through such grassroots initiatives, Brac Bank is strengthening financial inclusion, deepening engagement with migrant families, and promoting secure, efficient, and productive remittance services nationwide.
