Brac Bank leads digital payment drive in Rajshahi

Bangladesh Bank organised a two-day seminar on the Cashless Bangladesh initiative in Rajshahi, with BRAC Bank as lead bank, to promote digital transactions and enhance financial awareness.
The programme was held on 17 September at the Rajshahi Kara Training Academy Auditorium and on 18 September at Rajshahi University, engaging businessmen, customers, students, bank officials, and the wider community.
The event featured seminars, panel discussions, exhibitions, and awareness campaigns showcasing the benefits of Bangla QR and other digital transaction platforms to accelerate the shift from cash to digital payments.
Distinguished guests included Khondoker Azim Ahmed ndc, divisional commissioner of Rajshahi, as chief guest; Bangladesh Bank executive director Md Arief Hossain Khan and director Md Sharafat Ullah Khan; and BRAC Bank managing director and CEO Tareq Refat Ullah Khan as special guests. The session was presided over by Rafeza Akhter Kanta, director of Bangladesh Bank. BRAC Bank Deputy Managing Director and COO Sabbir Hossain also attended.
The programme featured extensive sessions on digital financial services, supported by promotional campaigns and roadshows to raise awareness and drive adoption. Speakers emphasised the speed, convenience, and security of cashless transactions as key enablers of financial inclusion.
Participants welcomed the initiative and expressed strong interest in similar programmes in future. BRAC Bank's leadership role underscored its commitment to advancing financial inclusion and accelerating Bangladesh's transition towards a cashless economy.
