bKash wins two SDG Brand Champion awards
bKash has won two honours at the SDG Brand Champion Awards 2026 for its sustainability efforts and digital financial services initiative for honey collectors in the Sundarbans.
The mobile financial services provider was named winner in the "Most Sustainable Financial Institution of the Year in MFS" and "SDG Brand Champion in Sustainable Community" categories, according to a press release.
Bangladesh Innovation Conclave organised the fourth edition of the awards at a hotel in Dhaka.
Ishtiaque Shahriar, Head of Digital Assets and Communications at bKash, received the awards on behalf of the company.
bKash received the first award for incorporating sustainability into its overall strategies and operations and fostering relationships with stakeholders.
The company also introduced digital transaction facilities for honey collectors, locally known as mowals, in the Sundarbans. The initiative aims to reduce the risks of carrying cash while travelling by waterways and lessen their dependence on intermediaries.
A documentary titled "Sahosei bikash", portraying the collectors' livelihoods and use of digital transactions, earned bKash the award in the Sustainable Community category.
