BIDA chief heads high-level team to Türkiye for investment talks
A high-level Bangladeshi delegation led by Ashik Chowdhury, Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), and Moheshkhali Integrated Development Authority (MIDA), as well as Chief Executive Officer of the Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA), has arrived in Türkiye on a six-day strategic mission to strengthen bilateral investment cooperation and attract Turkish investment in key sectors of Bangladesh's rapidly expanding economy.
The mission marks a significant milestone in Bangladesh's global investment outreach and aligns with its vision to integrate more deeply into international trade and production networks.
From 7 to 8 October, the delegation will hold high-level Government-to-Business (G2B) meetings with leading Turkish conglomerates — both existing investors in Bangladesh and new entrants exploring opportunities — to discuss investment expansion and new projects in textiles and retail, power and renewable energy, processed foods, telecommunications and ICT, logistics and construction, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and consumer electronics.
The team will also engage in institutional collaboration with Invest in Türkiye, supported by the International Finance Corporation (IFC). This component includes capacity-building workshops on global best practices in FDI pipeline development, investor aftercare, and policy reform, drawing lessons from Türkiye's advanced client-centric investment model to enhance Bangladesh's investor facilitation framework.
The visit will conclude on 9 October with the Bangladesh–Türkiye Investment Seminar in Istanbul, jointly organised by BIDA and the Embassy of Bangladesh in Türkiye. The event will spotlight Bangladesh as a competitive investment destination, featuring case studies from multinational companies such as Koç Holding, Coca-Cola, and Aygaz, alongside sectoral presentations and networking sessions between Turkish business leaders and Bangladeshi policymakers.
"The world is taking notice of Bangladesh's transformation," said Ashik Chowdhury, Executive Chairman of BIDA and BEZA. "Our goal extends beyond attracting investment — we are building strategic partnerships. With Türkiye's robust industrial ecosystem and global reach, there is immense potential for co-investment, technology transfer, and joint ventures that create shared prosperity."
The Türkiye mission underscores Bangladesh's ambition to transition from a traditional investment destination into a dynamic, innovation-driven economy, driven by reform, institutional modernisation, and international collaboration.
