BGB steps up patrols ahead of 13th JS election:DG
To monitor the overall law and order and security situation ahead of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election, Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), visited BGB election base camps in Faridpur and Munshiganj.
The BGB Director General visited the election base camp established at the Faridpur Agricultural Training Institute under Faridpur-3 and the base camp at Srinagar Beltoli G J High School under Munshiganj-1 at noon today (11 February 2026).
During the visit, he exchanged views with BGB officials and personnel of all ranks deployed at the base camps. He instructed them to conduct the maximum possible number of patrol operations to ensure voters can exercise their franchise in a safe, peaceful, and fear-free environment.
He also directed BGB members to take a firm stance against any criminals or hostile groups seeking to obstruct the electoral process, and urged every member to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, dedication, and neutrality while performing election duties.
Earlier, the BGB Director General attended a law and order coordination meeting at the Faridpur Deputy Commissioner's office, held in connection with the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election and referendum, alongside the Home Affairs Adviser.
BGB stated that it has deployed more than 37,000 members in 489 of the country's 495 upazilas, in addition to maintaining security along the country's 4,427-kilometre border. In 61 border upazilas, BGB will perform election duties independently. It will also remain engaged across all 300 parliamentary constituencies as a mobile and static force, based on risk assessments.
To respond to any emergency during the election period, BGB stated that it has made arrangements to utilise its helicopter and deploy the Quick Response Force (QRF), Rapid Action Team (RAT), specialised K9 dog squad unit, drones, and body-worn cameras.
