BGB observes 'National Martyrs' Day' with due dignity

On the occasion of 'National Martyrs' Day', the BGB held a detailed program in memory of the martyrs of the barbaric massacre that took place at the then BDR (now BGB) headquarters, Peelkhana, on February 25 and 26, 2009.
To mark the day with due dignity, the Khatme Quran was organised in mosques of all regions, organisations, sectors and units, including the BGB headquarters in Peelkhana, from after Fajr to before Zuhr prayers for the forgiveness of the souls of the martyrs. On the occasion of the day, the BGB regimental flag was kept at half-mast at all BGB establishments, and all BGB members wore black badges.
At 0900 hours, BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui paid tribute to the brave martyrs of the Peelkhana massacre at the Banani Military Cemetery and laid a wreath at the altar of the Martyrs' Memorial. On the occasion of the day, the BGB Director General issued a separate message. In the message, he prayed for the forgiveness of the departed souls of all the martyrs of the BDR massacre and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families of the martyrs.
On the occasion of the day, a special prayer and milad mahfil was held at the BGB Central Mosque in Peelkhana after Asr prayers, seeking the forgiveness of the souls of the martyrs, including all the mosques of all the regions, organisations, sectors and units of the BGB, and at the BOP level. The prayer and milad mahfil held at the BGB Central Mosque was attended by Honourable Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.), Chairman of the National Independent Investigation Commission on the BDR Murder Major General ALM Fazlur Rahman (retd.), other members of the commission, BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, guests of the Ministry of Home Affairs, close relatives of the martyrs, all officers, junior officers, soldiers of other ranks and civilian officials and employees.
