BBA conducts on-site inspection of Jamuna Bridge and road works
Mr Abdur Rauf, Secretary of the Bridge Division and Executive Director of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BA/SET), conducted a focused two-day inspection of the Jamuna Bridge and its associated roadworks from July 25 to 26, 2025, to ensure project progress, operational excellence, and adherence to standards.
During his visit to the Jamuna Bridge precinct, Mr Rauf examined:
- Operation and maintenance activities
- Toll collection processes at both plazas
- Progress on the under-construction bridge museum
- Removal of the existing railway track on the bridge
- Management of BA/SET land and property in the bridge zone
- Operations at Elenga Resort and Contract-7 road toll collection
He was accompanied by BA/SET's Director (Administration), Chief Engineer, Additional Project Directors, and site-office staff. Mr Rauf reviewed compliance with the Operation & Maintenance Manual in meetings with the operation and maintenance contractor (CCSI-LL) and the toll-collection operator (CRBC-LL), focusing on uninterrupted services and strict contractual performance at all toll booths.
Mr Rauf also inspected the ongoing Road Connectivity Project–2, specifically:
- Work Package 05: Elenga to Jamuna Bridge East Interchange (13.60 km)
- Work Package 06: Jamuna Bridge West Interchange to Hatikamrul (19.012 km)
At the WP-05 base camp conference hall, he chaired a meeting to drive quality control and maintain project schedules. He instructed Abdul Monem Ltd to ensure the steady supply of critical materials to the sites, reinforcing the urgency of keeping work on track.
At WP-06, Mr Rauf directed contractor HEGO–Mir Akhtar Hossain Ltd (JV) and project staff to address quality standards and timeline challenges head-on, highlighting the urgent need to resolve supply issues, particularly with bitumen.
Following advice from Mr Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan, Adviser to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, Mr Rauf stressed the need to finish all work on time and within budget under the country's Annual Development Programme (ADP).
