Bank Asia trains agents on remittance protection
Bank Asia Agent Banking has organised a capacity-building training on "Remittance Surokkha" alongside the "Agent Banking Business Conference–2026" in Cumilla, focusing on remittance protection, financial management and agent banking business development.
The event was held at the BRAC Learning Centre in Cumilla on 16 May 2026 under the project "Leaving No-One Behind (LNOB) in the Digital Era in Bangladesh", supported by the United Nations Capital Development Fund, according to a press release issued on 18 May 2026.
Bank Asia PLC's Additional Managing Director, Mohammad Ziaul Hasan Molla, attended the event as the chief guest.
Deputy Managing Director Mirza Azhar Ahmad, other senior officials of the bank, and UNCDF representatives Md Ikbal Hossain and Harun Ar-Rashid Mamun were also present.
The training sessions focused on remittance protection services and financial management practices for expatriates and remittance-recipient families.
Participants discussed challenges in the effective utilisation of remittances and explored practical solutions, including suitable banking products and services, digital financial literacy and customer awareness initiatives.
The conference also featured detailed discussions on agent banking business development in the respective districts, customer and agent support services, anti-money laundering compliance and preventive measures.
Agents, customer service officers and field officials from Cumilla, Feni and Brahmanbaria districts attended the programme.
