Bangladesh selects winners for WRO 2025 finals in Singapore

The national round of the World Robot Olympiad Bangladesh (WROBD) 2025 was held on Thursday at United International University (UIU) in Dhaka, with nearly 200 students competing after being selected through three regional rounds.
Winners of the national competition will represent Bangladesh at the World Robot Olympiad 2025 in Singapore this November.
Team Increvo won gold in the Future Innovators Senior category, Team Cyber Squad secured gold in the Future Innovators Junior category, and Team Lazy Go clinched gold in the Future Engineers category. In total, 14 teams received medals across categories, while five others earned honourable mentions.
Afia Humaira of Team Cyber Squad said, "This gold medal is a huge inspiration for us. We want to take on more challenges in robotics and bring international success for Bangladesh."
For the first time, the contest was held at the regional level in Dhaka, Chattogram and Rangpur, enabling wider participation. Seventy teams, selected from these rounds, competed nationally across four categories – Future Innovators, Future Engineers, Robomission, and Robosports – within three age groups: Elementary (8–12 years), Junior (11–15 years), and Senior (14–19 years).
The day-long competition began at 8am with registration, followed by judging rounds throughout the day. The closing and prize-giving ceremony took place at 5pm.
UIU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Abul Kashem Mia attended as chief guest. "This event inspires young talents in robotics and technology, helping develop their creativity and innovation skills. It will also play a key role in shaping the country's future technology sector," he said.
Other distinguished guests included Professor Dr Hasan Sarwar, Dean of SoSE and CSE at UIU; Dr Khandker Abdullah Al Mamun, Director of IRIIC; Dr Mohammad Khalilur Rahman, Associate Professor at BRAC University; Khaled Masood, Managing Editor of The Business Standard; Raisul Kabir, CEO of Brain Station 23; Monir Hossain, President of Creative IT; Ziauddin Mahmud, COO of Creative IT; and Munir Hasan, President of Bangladesh Open Source Network.
Earlier, WROBD organised 14 activation programmes across five districts, engaging around 2,000 students in workshops on robotics. Since 2020, Bangladesh has regularly participated in the global Olympiad, achieving consistent success.
The national round was jointly organised by WROBD and Bangladesh Open Source Network, hosted by UIU. Creative IT and Brain Station 23 were supporting partners, while The Business Standard served as media partner.
