Bangladesh runners-up at world robot olympiad asia-pacific open

Bangladeshi students placed second in the Future Engineers category at the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) Asia-Pacific Open Championship in Manila, Philippines, and also received two special honours.
The results were announced on Sunday (21 September) at 4 pm Bangladesh time, following the three-day event featuring 160 teams from 25 countries.
The Future Engineers senior division saw Team Playditron—Anas Bin Azim from Adamjee Cantonment College and Syed Md Mohiuddin Samir from Rajuk Uttara Model College—claim second place, along with the Design Innovation Award. According to Anas, this recognition represents the dedication and aspirations of Bangladesh's youth.
In the Future Innovators senior division, the Startup Idea Award was claimed by Team Saf AI, comprising Abrar Abir of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology and AJM Imtenan Kabir of Dhaka Residential Model College.
Professor Dr Asif Iqbal, Dean of the School of Science and Engineering at Chittagong Independent University and Bangladesh team leader, congratulated the participants. Despite travel hassles and shortages of robot components compared to other countries, he noted, students demonstrated extraordinary determination—rebuilding parts after leaving batteries behind in China.
The national WRO Bangladesh round was held on 14 June with 26 teams. Nine finalists, mentors, and associates formed a 13-member team that traveled to Manila, participating in four categories: Future Innovators (junior and senior), Future Engineers, and Robosports.
Representing Bangladesh in Robosports, Team Autocrats advanced to the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, Team Roboclean, comprising students from Chattogram Cantonment Public College and Forest Research Institute High School, participated in the Future Innovators junior division.
The Asia-Pacific Open began on 18 September with a welcome tour. Registration, rehearsals, and judges' meetings took place on 19 September. The main competition took place on 20–21 September, featuring robotics challenges and concluding with a closing ceremony.
BDOSN and WRO Bangladesh jointly organised the championship, with support given by Creative IT and Brain Station 23.
