Bangladesh Open University holds workshop
A two-day workshop titled "The Research Journey: From Proposal to Thesis Writing" commenced today at Bangladesh Open University (BOU).
The university's Treasurer, Professor Dr Abul Hasnat Mohammad Shamim, inaugurated the event.
Organised by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the event is held at the Lecture Gallery of BOU's Conference and Training Centre in Gazipur. Approximately 70 MPhil and PhD researchers from the university's second, third, and fourth batches are participating in the workshop, which will run through 17 May.
In his inaugural address, Professor Dr Shamim remarked, "A successful researcher's journey begins with a strong research proposal and culminates in the submission of a well-structured thesis. This workshop will serve as a valuable guide throughout that academic journey."
Professor Dr Md Sirajul Islam, Director of IQAC, chaired the session. Professor Dr Mohammad Zahir Raihan and Professor Dr Mohammad Mamunur Rashid, both Additional Directors of IQAC, were also present, along with Dr Md Shawkat Ali, Officer-in-Charge of the Research Degree Unit.
On the first day, sessions were held on selecting research topics, drafting proposals, techniques for literature review, and research ethics. The second day will focus on data collection and analysis, thesis structure and writing, findings presentation, and viva preparation. Experienced researchers and subject experts are resource persons and speakers during the sessions.
