Aziz al Kaiser elected chairman of nsu board of trustees

Renowned business leader and education advocate Aziz Al Kaiser has been elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of North South University (NSU), succeeding outgoing Chairman Azim Uddin Ahmed.

The decision was made at the Board's annual general meeting held on Saturday.

Mr Kaiser, son of the late M A Hashem—eminent industrialist, former Member of Parliament, founding member and former Chairman of the NSU BoT, and founder of Partex Group—brings a legacy of leadership and vision to the role. He currently serves as Chairman of The City Bank and Partex Star Group.

A longstanding member of the NSU BoT, Mr Kaiser has played a key role in shaping the university's development and strategic direction. His extensive experience in the corporate sector and unwavering commitment to education position him as a forward-looking leader for the institution.

In his remarks following the appointment, Mr Kaiser said, "North South University stands today as a testament to years of visionary leadership and hard work. I am deeply honoured to follow in the footsteps of our founders. As Chairman, my mission is to elevate NSU's global standing as a centre of academic excellence, innovation, and inclusive learning."

Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of NSU, congratulated Mr Kaiser on his new role. "His deep understanding of NSU's mission and commitment to educational advancement will be instrumental in guiding the university toward its next chapter of growth," he said.

Founded in 1992, NSU is widely regarded as a pioneer in private higher education in Bangladesh. With Mr Kaiser at the helm, the university community looks forward to advancing its reputation as a globally recognised centre of excellence in teaching, research, and innovation.
