AUST debating club to host ‘Green Horizon 2026’ on 16 February
The AUST Debating Club (AUSTDC) is set to host "Crown Micro presents Green Horizon 2026" on 16 February 2026 at the auditorium of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST).
Organised in association with Infrastructure Development Company Limited (Idcol) and presented by Crown Micro Global Bangladesh Ltd, the national youth competition will focus on renewable energy, sustainability, and green policy. The event will commence at 10:00 am and conclude with a closing ceremony at 4:00 pm, according to organisers.
More than 200 participants from across the country are expected to attend the programme. A highlight will be the National Policy Case Competition, in which the top 10 university teams will present research-based policy proposals on renewable energy expansion, sustainable infrastructure, and green economic transformation.
The event will also feature a National Public Speaking Championship in English and Bangla, where school, college, and university finalists will deliver speeches on climate action, environmental responsibility, and sustainable leadership.
An inter-departmental final at AUST is also scheduled, with the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) and the Department of Mechanical Engineering set to compete in the concluding round.
The closing ceremony is expected to be attended by Alamgir Morshed, executive director and chief executive officer of Idcol, as the chief guest, alongside the AUST vice-chancellor and representatives from Crown Micro and Rancon Infrastructure.
According to organisers, the judging panel will comprise faculty members from the University of Dhaka, engineers from the Bangladesh Power Development Board (PDB), and professionals from British American Tobacco Bangladesh and Swisscontact.
Green Horizon 2026 aims to position youth at the forefront of Bangladesh's green transition by fostering policy dialogue, innovation, and sustainable leadership, organisers added.
