Atlas Bangladesh steps into EV market with launch of ‘Atlas EV’
Atlas Bangladesh Limited (ABL), a state-owned enterprise under the Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation (BSEC) of the Ministry of Industries, has officially launched its own electric motorcycle brand, Atlas EV, marking a milestone in the country's sustainable transport and automobile sector.
The brand was inaugurated on 5 November 2025 at a ceremony attended by Adilur Rahman Khan, Adviser to the Ministry of Industries and the Ministry of Housing and Public Works; Md Obaidur Rahman, Secretary, Ministry of Industries; and Md Anwarul Alam, Chairman (Additional Secretary), BSEC. Senior officials from BSEC and ABL, along with dealers and employees, were also present.
The launch follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zhejiang Luan Electric Vehicle Co Ltd of China as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) earlier this year.
Adilur Rahman Khan said, "The government is committed to promoting green mobility and sustainable development. This initiative by a trusted state-owned enterprise like Atlas Bangladesh is a major step towards implementing the national electric vehicle policy. It will help reduce carbon emissions, save foreign exchange, and make environment-friendly transport accessible to the public."
Industries Secretary Md Obaidur Rahman added, "The introduction of Atlas EV through a government enterprise ensures quality, affordability, and reliable after-sales service. It aligns with our industrial policy to encourage high-tech manufacturing and build a strong domestic ecosystem for electric vehicles."
BSEC Chairman Md Anwarul Alam described the initiative as timely and forward-looking, expressing hope that ABL's entry into EV production would strengthen the local industry and inspire further innovation and investment.
