Al-Arafah Islami Bank appoints new managing director
Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC has appointed Mohd Rafat Ullah Khan as managing director for a three-year term, effective from 18 December 2025.
Prior to his appointment, Khan was serving as additional managing director and chief risk officer of the bank. He previously worked as deputy managing director, chief risk officer and CAMELCO at NCC Bank PLC.
Khan began his banking career in 1994 as a probationary officer at Eastern Bank PLC. Over a career spanning more than three decades, he has held senior and leadership roles at several banks, including BRAC Bank, Dutch-Bangla Bank and Prime Bank.
His professional experience covers a wide range of areas, including credit risk management, corporate banking, product development, and process and policy formulation in both Islamic and conventional banking. He has worked across branch and head office operations throughout his career.
Khan holds a postgraduate degree in statistics from the University of Dhaka and an MBA from a private university. He has also participated in various professional seminars and workshops at home and abroad, including programmes held in Nepal, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.
