AIUB holds freshman orientation for spring 2025–26
The Freshman Orientation for Spring 2025–26 of American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB) was held on 31 January, 2025 (Saturday) at the AIUB campus.
The programme welcomed newly admitted students from various departments, along with their parents and guardians. It provided an overview of the university's academic policies, rules and regulations, and the resources available to support students throughout their studies.
Nadia Anwar, founder member and chairman of the board of trustees, attended as the chief guest and delivered a welcome address to the freshmen and their parents. She encouraged students to uphold discipline, dedication and creativity as they begin their academic journey at AIUB.
Also present were Professor Dr Md Abdur Rahman, pro-vice chancellor; Professor Dr Tazul Islam, dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS); Professor Dr Anwar Hossain, advisor and dean (in-charge), Faculty of Business Administration (FBA); Professor Dr Siddique Hossain, dean, Faculty of Engineering (FE); and Mashiour Rahman, senior associate professor and dean, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST). They addressed the audience with guidance for the semester ahead and highlighted academic expectations and opportunities within their respective faculties.
Others who spoke at the programme included Professor Dr Taslima Monsoor, advisor, law; Professor Dr Manzur H Khan, proctor; Professor Dr Dip Nandi, associate dean, FST; Professor Dr Md Abdul Mannan, associate dean, FE; Professor Dr Partha Prasad Chowdhury, director (in-charge), BBA; Dr Md Abdullah-Al-Jubair, director, FST; Arefeen Ibrahim, head, Department of Architecture; Hamidul Haque, head, Department of English; and Professor Dr Md Siddiqul Islam, head, pharmacy.
On behalf of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), Dr Ziarat H Khan, deputy director, student services and welfare; Dr Chowdhury Akram Hossain, head, Department of Computer Engineering; Professor Dr Mohammad Faridul Alam, director, MBA programme; and Stanley Sumon Rodrick, special assistant, OSA, FBA, conducted sessions for the new students, supported by OSA representatives from different faculties.
Throughout the day, various AIUB student clubs set up stalls to introduce their activities and engage with newcomers. The orientation concluded with a cultural performance by the AIUB Performing Arts Club (APAC) at the amphitheatre.
