AIUB english club launches ignite to inspire student innovation

The American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) English Club has launched IGNITE: The Voice of Change, an interdepartmental presentation contest designed to empower students to share groundbreaking ideas, spark meaningful conversations, and inspire action.
The week-long event, running from August 19 to 24, 2025, combines competition, mentorship, and active participation to nurture students as thinkers, speakers, and changemakers.
IGNITE serves as more than just a competition; it is a movement dedicated to elevating student voices and demonstrating the remarkable potential within the student body. Participants craft compelling narratives across four pillars: Technology & the Future, Creativity & Culture, Personal Growth & Well-being, and Society & Community.
The programme began on 19 August with a workshop titled "Idea to Impact", led by AIUB faculty, providing tools for brainstorming, structuring persuasive pitches, and navigating Q&A sessions. On 20 August, teams participated in the preliminary round, each delivering a two-minute pitch to qualify for the Grand Finale. The event will conclude on August 24 at the AIUB Auditorium, where finalists will present fully developed five-minute presentations, followed by a live Q&A session with faculty, peers, and invited guests.
With support from the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) at AIUB and in collaboration with The Business Standard, IGNITE provides a platform for participants to extend their influence beyond the campus. The winning team's idea will be featured nationwide through TBS coverage.
The event's slogan, "Speak Spark Ignite", underscores its anticipated outcomes: building student confidence in public speaking and storytelling, developing effective pitching skills, and fostering a culture of innovation and social impact. Join IGNITE to contribute your voice, connect across departments, and help shape the future—whether as a participant or supporter. Seize this opportunity and be part of a movement providing national exposure to the ideas of young changemakers. Students are encouraged to attend, participate, and support their peers as they join the movement to ignite change within and beyond the campus.
