6th math olympiad in lakshmipur ends with awards for 50 students
The Grand Finale of the 6th Lakshmipur Regional Mathematics Olympiad, organised by the Lakshmipur Math Club, took place on Saturday, 15 November, at Lakshmipur Government Girls' High School, attracting 878 students from across the district.
Finalists were chosen through upazila-level rounds in Ramganj, Raipur, Lakshmipur Sadar, Ramgati, and Kamalnagar. Following a one-hour written examination, participants took part in interactive activities, including a Rubik's Cube Challenge, an Ask & Win session, and a Career Talk designed to spark wider interest in mathematics.
Muhammad Manjurur Rahman, Principal of Lakshmipur Government College, attended the award ceremony as chief guest. Special guests included Ibrahim Abrar, Chief Executive Officer of eshikhon.com, and Md Ikbal Mahmud, founder of the Lakshmipur Math Club. The Deputy Commissioner of Lakshmipur was invited but was unable to attend due to an urgent official engagement.
In his remarks, Engineer Ikbal Mahmud urged students to uphold honesty in all examinations and competitions. He noted that dishonest means may provide short-term satisfaction but ultimately undermine genuine learning, and called on parents to encourage their children to rely on their own abilities.
A total of 50 participants received medals, certificates, and T-shirts across the Primary, Junior, Secondary, and Higher Secondary categories. Teachers, students, and parents contributed to a festive atmosphere throughout the day-long event.
The Lakshmipur Math Club also announced its new executive committee, appointing Muntasir Raihan Zidan (IUT, CEE) as President and Jubaer Islam Nabib (BUET, BME) as General Secretary. In his speech, the new General Secretary stated that Maths Olympiads inspire young learners to explore the wider world of mathematics — from patterns in nature to the logic behind problem-solving.
