Actress Mehazabien, her brother face arrest warrants
At the same time, 18 December has been fixed for submitting the execution report of the arrest warrants.
A Dhaka court has issued arrest warrants against actress Mehazabien Chowdhury and her brother Alisan Chowdhury in a case filed on charges of threats and intimidation.
Confirming the matter on Sunday (16 November), the plaintiff in the case Amirul Islam said 3 November was set as the date for actress Mehazabien and her brother to appear before the court. However, as they did not appear, Dhaka Executive Magistrate Court-3 Magistrate Afroza Haque Tania issued arrest warrants against them.
At the same time, 18 December has been fixed for submitting the execution report of the arrest warrants.
According to the complaint, due to a long acquaintance with the plaintiff, accused Mehazabien allegedly enticed him with various promises and took a total of Tk27 lakh in cash and through bKash on different dates, saying she would make him a partner in her new family business.
Later, as Mehazabien and her brother did not take any initiative to start the business for a long time, the plaintiff repeatedly asked for his money back, but they kept delaying.
Then on 11 February, when he again asked for the money owed, they told him to come to a restaurant beside Hatirjheel Road on 16 March.
The complaint further states that when he went to the location that day, Mehazabien and her brother, along with 4-5 other unidentified individuals, verbally abused him using obscene language.
They reportedly said, "Don't ever come to our house to ask for money again. If we see you in front of our house again, we will kill you." They allegedly issued threats to his life and intimidated him.
When he went to Vatara Police Station to resolve the matter, the police advised him to file a case with the court.
Following this, Amirul Islam filed the case in the Dhaka Executive Magistrate Court under Sections 107 and 117(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
