11th DIMFF 2025 press conference held at ULAB

The 11th Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF) 2025 commenced with an inspiring opening ceremony at ULAB Campus A, Dhanmondi.
The festival began with two screening sessions on the first day, showcasing 14 of the 27 films selected for this year's festival.
The event was graced by renowned personalities, including actress Nusrat Faria and acclaimed director Sayed Ahmed Shawki, who joined as special guests.
In the opening speech, Professor Sumon Rahman highlighted the evolution of filmmaking, stating, "Previously, it was unimaginable to think of a film being less than three hours. However, Pather Panchali perfectly demonstrated that films can be impactful regardless of duration. There are multiple ways to tell a story, and mobile filmmaking is one of them."
DIMFF Festival Director Hosain Haque expressed his gratitude, saying, "It has been a remarkable journey working with my team to bring this festival to life. The passion and creativity showcased through these films are truly inspiring."
Actress Nusrat Faria shared her excitement, stating, "This morning, as I was heading to the festival, it felt like the Bengali version of Cannes. Both festivals aim to celebrate films by showcasing exceptional talent and fostering artistic excellence."
Director Sayed Ahmed Shawki, a ULAB alumnus, reflected on his experience, saying, "As a former student of ULAB, I am truly delighted to see this festival flourish. While I credit ULAB for my success, we didn't have such opportunities back then to showcase our talents."
Seven films were screened in the festival's first screening session after the opening ceremony. During the Q&A session, Eye's On director Neamutul Islam Shanto expressed his enthusiasm: "I am thrilled to showcase my short film at this festival. I hope for more events like this to inspire young filmmakers in our country."
The 11th Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival 2025 will conclude with a grand closing ceremony on February 23 at Star Cineplex, Shimanto Shambhar. The event promises to be a fitting finale, celebrating the creativity and innovation of mobile filmmaking.
