Bangladesh and Sri Lanka move to elevate bilateral ties
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have vowed to solidify their longstanding bilateral relationship, with both nations seeking to intensify cooperation in the coming years.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Andalib Elias voiced these intentions during a farewell meeting with Sri Lanka's Acting Foreign Minister Arun Hemachandra, MP, in Colombo on Monday.
During the meeting, the acting foreign minister lauded the high commissioner's efforts to enhance Bangladesh-Sri Lanka relations, highlighting tangible progress in bilateral cooperation. He stressed that the moment is ideal to raise the partnership to new heights, according to a press release.
He emphasised the need to arrange a state-level visit between the two countries in the near future.
The Bangladesh high commissioner expressed gratitude to the Government of Sri Lanka for its steadfast support to Bangladesh, particularly in multilateral forums.
He reiterated Bangladesh's resolve to further strengthen cooperation and broaden engagement with Sri Lanka across mutually beneficial sectors.
He also thanked the acting foreign minister for his personal support and goodwill throughout his tenure in Sri Lanka.
