Omar Faruk Khan appointed acting managing director of Islami Bank

Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC has announced the appointment of Md Omar Faruk Khan as its managing director (current charge).
Omar Faruk joined Islami Bank as additional managing director in September last year. Prior to that, he served as managing director (current charge) of NRB Bank Limited.
With a banking career spanning 37 years, Omar Faruk has held leadership roles in various departments, divisions, zone offices, and branches, including the International Banking Wing and the local office — Islami Bank's largest operational unit.
He began his career at Islami Bank in 1986 after completing a master's degree in Sociology from the University of Dhaka. He is an associate of the Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh, and a certified documentary credit specialist accredited by the International Chamber of Commerce.
Omar Faruk has also participated in several international training programmes and seminars on banking and credit management in countries including Switzerland, the UAE, Thailand, Malaysia, and India.
Established in March 1983, Islami Bank is the first Shariah-based scheduled commercial bank in South and South-East Asia.
