Sportsmen to get financial aid
The government decided to provide 1,000 sportsmen with financial assistance amid coronavirus pandemic
The government will stand by 1,000 sportsmen of 27 federations who have been affected due to coronavirus pandemic.
A press release of the Ministry for Youth and Sports Wednesday said that the sportsmen will get Tk10,000 each.
The decision was made at a meeting led by State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell at National Sports Council Wednesday.

The minister said many at sporting sectors are affected by the coronavirus fallout. Several individuals and federations have been supporting the sportsmen of their own. Now the government has decided to lend a hand.
The meeting also discussed how the pandemic-hit sporting sector can be uplifted and the ways to cushion the fallouts.
Quoting the prime minister, Zahid Ahsan Russell said the government will continue support to the sportsmen.
"We are trying to allocate more for the sportsmen from individual and federation level. The assistances will be rolled out in several phases," he added.
