Workers Party of Bangladesh President Comrade Rashed Khan Menon today termed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's decision of giving Taka 2,500 cash assistance each to 50 lakh people amid the COVID-19 crisis as a time worthy and courageous imitative.

"The assistance will help bring back the confidence of the people who became jobless due to the outbreak of coronavirus as well as energies the country's economy," he said.

Menon came up with the remarks at a secretariat meeting of Dhaka city unit of the Worker Party on reviewing the formulation of a list of 1000 people of his Dhaka-8 constituency to issue ration cards, said a press release.

Noting that other countries, including neighbouring India, across the globe, have also taken identical steps, he said but it was very difficult to work to make lists of the people, who would get the assistance, under the wards of the city corporations within a limited time.

The Workers Party president, however, felicitated the ward councillors for completing the work along with political activists.

Dhaka city unit President of the party Comrade Abul Hossain, General Secretary Comrade Kishore Ray and members Towhidur Rahman, Jahangir Alam
Fazlu and Anwarul Islam Tipu were present at the meeting.
