Grameen Telecom to provide 1 million non-medical face masks for free

Grameen Telecom is going to provide one million non-medical cloth face masks free of cost for the underprivileged people and those who cannot afford any mask.

It has already distributed 72,000 of these two-layer knit fabric masks among people through various organisations, said a press release issued on Sunday.

The company said that according to various international research and announcements by the department of health, coronavirus transmission can be significantly reduced by using masks made of cloth, especially knit fabrics.

The two-layer knit fabric mask can help curb the spread of coronavirus because it reduced the risk of Covid-19 transmission via sneezing, coughing or even by talking to others.

These non-medical masks are being produced at the production facilities of Grameen Fabrics and Fashions Ltd.

So far, 2.05 lakh masks have been produced. From now on, two lakh masks will be produced every week.

Individuals and organisations interested in acquiring masks for distribution on their own initiatives can contact through email at info@grameentelecom.net.bd.
