19 people sued for occupying Grameen Telecom building

A case was lodged today (12 December) against 19 people, including the former chairman of Grameen Bank AKM Saiful Majid, for allegedly occupying the Grameen Telecom building in Dhaka's Mirpur area.

Grameen Telecom Managing Director Nazmul Islam filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiak.

The court, after recording the complainant's statement, asked the Shah Ali Police Station officer-in-charge to record the matter as a first information report (FIR).

The other accused in the case are Abdul Quddus, Foyjul Haque, Mamunur Rashid, Krishna Kanto Roy, Pradip Kumar Saha, Harun Ur Rashid, Md Tarikul Islam, Md Golam Zakaria, Govinda Saha, S Abdur Rashid, Barrister Masud Akhter, Jim Jobayed, Lt Col (retd) Jahangir Hasan, Col (retd) Rashed Ali, Sergeant (retd) Ziaur Rahman, Nuruzzaman Mridha, Mizanur Rahman, and Tanin Khan.

According to the case documents, the accused on February 12, 2024, illegally entered the Grameen Telecom building in the Mirpur-1 area and then vandalised valuable documents and furniture.
 
On 10 November, Grameen Kalyan Managing Director AKM Moinuddin Chowdhury filed another case in this regard.
