Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury in an open letter has urged Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to open the corona unit of Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital.

Introducing himself a 'foolish freedom fighter,' Dr Zafrullah also gave the Prime Minister various suggestions to deal with the country's current situation.

Zafrullah said he wrote the letter after having failed to meet her directly.

Gonoshasthaya Kendra's press adviser Jahangir Alam Mintoo said the letter was submitted to the Prime Minister's office around 11am on Monday.

Stating that they have taken steps for providing corona patients treatment at the Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in the city's Dhanmondi area in the coming month, he said there will be a general ward with central oxygen facility alongside an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for the Covid-19 patients at the hospital.

"Will you (PM) inaugurate the general ward having the modern air-conditioned and central oxygen supply facility?" he writes.

Zafrullah said though the Prime Minister has been working hard for the development of the country, she is becoming lonely and gradually moving away from her goal. "At this difficult time in the country, you've to move forward with your own party colleagues and all other politicians."

He suggested Sheikh Hasina to remain alert about the bureaucrats and detectives, and give political activists access to talk to her.

Zafrullah, also a Jatiya Oikyafront leader, advised the PM to go to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's house wishing her good health on the Eid day as he said it will make people happy.

He criticized the Directorate General of Health Services for not approving Gonoshasthaya Kendra's corona antibody testing kit.

He hoped that someone from the Prime Minister's Office will bring this open letter to the Prime Minister's notice. "I'll receive a letter of acknowledgment and this is the aspiration of a citizen to the beloved Prime Minister."
