Covid-19 test: Samples of elderly people to be collected from home
The health service division made the decision as per the recommendation of the National Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19

From now, people who are in their 50s or more need not go to a sample collection booth to give their samples for Covid-19 tests. Instead, their samples will be collected from their homes to assuage their sufferings in this regard.
The Health Services Division under the Health and Family Welfare Ministry has directed the authorities concerned to take steps in this regard, a press release read today.
The health service division made the decision on Saturday as per recommendations from the National Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19.
The committee in its 14th meeting said elderly people are being infected with Covid-19 in higher numbers when compared to any other age group and that they cannot go to the sample collection centres for various reasons. As a result, the health risk among the aged people is increasing.
