Bangladesh records lowest number of daily deaths in 6 days

Bangladesh has confirmed 20 more deaths from the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in the last 24 hours until Friday 8am – the lowest number of Covid-19 deaths in the past six days. Previously, on 20 November, the number of daily Covid-19 deaths was 17.
The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 6,544, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the meantime, 2,273 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, and the number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 458,711.
The latest day's infection rate was 13.88% of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date was 16.81%. The death rate stands at 1.43%.
During the same period, 2,223 patients were declared free of Covid-19, raising the total number of recoveries to 373,676 with an 81.46% recovery rate.
Among the latest day's victims, 17 were men and three were women. All the deceased died in different hospitals across the country.
Moreover, 10 of them hailed from Dhaka, three from both Chattogram and Barishal, one from both Rajshahi and Rangpur, and two from Khulna division.
Meanwhile, 16,378 samples were tested in 118 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 2,729,580 samples have been tested in the country so far.
The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims shows that 5,024 of the total deceased were men and 1,520 were women.
The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March this year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
