The cabinet today issued a directive to ensure the wearing of face masks to curb the possible second wave of Covid-19.

The instruction was given during a virtual cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who joined the meeting from her official residence Ganobhaban.

Pointing to people's indifference to wearing masks, Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said, "The risk of infection will naturally reduce if we all wear masks."

"We will conduct mobile courts if necessary," he said, adding that local authorities have been directed to encourage or even force people to wear masks.

All kinds of support will be provided in this regard, he added.
