A doctor of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) died of Covid-19 today.

The deceased Dr Muhidul Hasan, 35, was an emergency medical officer of the hospital.

CMCH Deputy Director Dr Akhtarul Islam said, "He breathed his last at around 11 am at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital. He tested positive for the virus after the Eid-ul-Fitr."

Muhidul is the second doctor who died of coronavirus in Chattogram. On Wednesday, Ehsanul Karim, a doctor of Marine City Medical College and Hospital died of the virus.

Assistant professor of Neurology Department of CMCH Dr Zaman Ahmed said, "Emergency Department is a risky area. The patients who come to the hospital at first take treatment there. Dr Muhidul Hasan was doing his duty in such a risky department."

"He could not escape himself from Covid-19 even with protection. His death has raised fear among other doctors of the hospital," he added.

So far, more than 75 doctors tested positive for the virus in Chattogram.
