A 45-year-old man has died at Tangail on Wednesday wth coronavirus symptoms. He had been suffering from fever, cold and respiratory problems for some days.

Confriming the matter to The Business Standard, Tangail Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Atikul Islam said, "His sample was sent to Dhaka on Wednesday. Steps have been taken to bury him with special measure."

"Five houses around the deceased's residence have been brought under lockdown," he added.

The deceased was a resident of Biswas Betka area of Dhaka road. He was taken to Tangail General Hospital for treatment.

They referred him to be taken to Kurmitola General Hospital. He died at the ambulance while starting to go there.

Consultant of Medicine Department at Tangail General Hospital, Shujauddin Talukdar said, "The relatives of the patient said he had asthma. He was diagnosed with pneumonia at the very ambulance on which he was brought to the hospital."

"He needed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) support which the Tangail Hospital lacks. So he was referred to Kurmitola Hospital," he added.
