Samsul Azam, Gazi Shahidullah elected to BKMEA board of directors

Knit garments traders Md Samsul Azam and Gazi Shahidullah have recently been elected to the board of directors of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA).

BKMEA vice-president Gauhar Siraj Jamil greeted the new directors on Monday in a formal ceremony.

Jamil said the newly elected directors will play an important role in carrying out the activities of the current board, including protecting the garment industry during the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, expanding new markets, increasing export growth, improving infrastructure in the net sector, ensuring sector compliance and fire safety, etc.

Ahmed Noor Faisal, director of BKMEA, and Md Altaf Uddin, joint senior secretary of the organisations' Chattogram office were present on the occasion among others.

Azam is the managing director of Chattogram-based Reenaun Apparels Ltd and Pressures Apparels Ltd. He is also a former president of Apex Club of Patenga and a life member of Apex Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, Shahidullah is the director of Sonnet Textile and Industries Ltd. He is also the zone chairperson of Lions Club International, a life member of Chattogram Maternal and Child Hospital, and Chattogram Diabetes Hospital.

They were elected to the BKMEA board of directors in a recent board meeting chaired by the association's president AKM Selim Osman MP.
