Information on all RMG factories in one app

Information on all the export-oriented ready-made garment factories in the country will now be available in one single app.
After the factories in Gazipur, Savar and Narayanganj, factories in Chattogram will now be incorporated into this app. The announcement was made in the introductory meeting of "Mapped in Bangladesh" project at Mahbub Ali Hall of BGMEA Building in the capital on Saturday.
All information including the names of the hundred percent export-oriented factories, the number workers in those firms, which items they produce, and under which organisation they operate will be available in the digital database.

The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) of BRAC University is implementing the project in association with the Bangladesh Garments Manufacturing and Exporting Association (BGMEA) and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA). The initiative has been funded by C&A Foundation.
In his speech as the chief guest, First Vice President of the BGMEA Mohammad Abdus Salam said, "When a sector gets big, no one wants to hear anything then. They can't figure out their own problems either. We have to rely on the academicians and researchers for all this.
"To know about one's own place and in foreign practices these researches are needed. "Mapped in Bangladesh" in such an app through which the exporters' capability and location will be known".
He also added, "Presently, RMG factory owners are going through a crisis. To overcome this everyone has to work together, because this sector contributes 85% of the total export of the country".
The Third Vice President of BKMEA Gouher Siraj Jamil, Project Manager Hasibuddin, and Adviser to the project Prof Dr Rahim B Talukdar also spoke on the occasion, among others.
