As part of the upcoming BGMEA elections for the 2025–2027 term, a candidate introduction meeting for the Sammilita Parishad panel was held in Chattogram on Wednesday (28 May).

Voters from the Chattogram region also attended the event, organised by the BGMEA under the supervision of the Election Board, at Mahabub Ali Hall of the BGMEA Bhaban in Khulshi.

Candidates bearing ballot numbers 36 to 70 introduced themselves and presented their election manifestos to the voters. This was led by Sammilita Parishad Panel Leader and Managing Director of Chaiti Composite Limited Md Abul Kalam.

BGMEA leaders were present at the event, including former presidents Qutubuddin Ahmed, Kazi Moniruzzaman, Faruque Hassan, and Khandaker Rafiqul Islam.

Former first vice-presidents Ershad Ullah, Moinuddin Ahmed (Mintu), Nasiruddin Chowdhury, and Nasiruddin Ahmed Chowdhury, along with Chattogram region panel leader S.M. Abu Tayyab, also attended.

The meeting was presided over by BGMEA Election Board member Ashraf Ahmed, who expressed his gratitude to the candidates and attendees.

"I seek everyone's cooperation to ensure a smooth and fair election," he stated.

During his speech, Sammilita Parishad Panel Leader Md Abul Kalam said, "Our members have been tested time and again. We are battle-hardened. If you vote for our full panel, BGMEA will remain on the right path. Support us by voting for candidates 36 to 70 so we can further strengthen the organization in the days ahead."

Voting for the BGMEA Elections 2025–2027 will take place simultaneously in Dhaka and Chattogram on May 31. A total of 1,865 voters are eligible to cast their ballots this year, with 1,561 registered voters in Dhaka and 303 in Chattogram.

Compared to last year's 2,496 voters, the number has decreased. This time, only owners of active factories are eligible to vote, following updated voter eligibility criteria.
