Asian Tobacco to Invest $2m in Ishwardi EPZ

Locally-grown tobacco company M/s Asian Tobacco (Pvt) Ltd is going to set up a cigarettes and tobacco processing plant in Ishwardi Export Processing Zone.
This Bangladeshi company will invest $2 million in this project.
To this respect, an agreement has been signed between Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (Bepza) and Asian Tobacco (Pvt) Ltd at the Bepza Complex, in the capital on Wednesday, said a media statement.
In presence of Major General SM Salahuddin Islam, executive chairman of Bepza; Md Mahmudul Hossain Khan, its member (investment promotion); and Md Saifur Rahman, managing director of Asian Tobacco signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
As per this deal, the company will produce annually 1195 million sticks of cigarettes, cigarette filters, cigarette packet, and cigarette box packet, including 73,205 kilogram tobacco.
Asian Tobacco, a high-tech cigarette factory, will also create employment opportunity for 68 Bangladeshi nationals here.
Other high officials from both organisations were present on the occasion.
